SYLHET (PRWEB UK) - In a concerted effort to take quality health care to Bangladesh, New Delhi based BLK Super Speciality Hospital, organized a high end super speciality consultancy which was extended to the needy patients in an Outdoor Patient Department (OPD) held at Mrijajangal, Sylhet.

According to a recent analysis by National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), prevalence of diabetes among adults in Bangladesh has increased considerably from 1995 to 2010. The risk factors like diabetes and hypertension is significantly associated with high prevalence of Chronic Kidney Disease (CKD) among urban Bangladeshi population.

According to the data, prevalence of diabetes among urban adults has increased substantially, from 4% in 1995 to 2000 and 5% in 2001 to 2005 to 9% in 2006 to 2010. According to the International Diabetes Federation, the prevalence will be 13% by 2030. High prevalence of diabetes is a major factor behind kidney ailments.

According to Dr Sunil Prakash, Sr Consultant & Director, Nephrology, BLK Super Speciality Hospital, such OPDs will be held regularly in Bangladesh. “Through this Bangladesh OPD, it was our endeavor to provide consultancy and treatment for various super specialities through senior and experienced doctors from the hospital. With respect to prevention of kidney diseases, Dr Sunil Prakash suggests rule of 5S : managing salt, sugar, stress, sedentary lifestyle and smoking in the day to day life, keeps ones kidney healthy and away from major ailments". Also, hypertension is the major cause of kidney disease in Bangladesh.

Food habit of women in the country is the major cause of infertility. Women consume very spicy food and maintain highly sedentary lifestyle which affects their reproductive system. This OPD was a step forward to offer cure to conditions of infertility related ailments and BLK Super Speciality Hospital will extend full medical support in this regard, added Dr Soma Singh, Consultant IVF & Reproductive Medicine at the hospital.

Such OPDs aim to help the deprived patients and shall enhance relations between the two neighbouring countries.
