Duncan Regional Hospital To Transform Patient Care With Integrated MEDITECH Web EHR

Westwood, MA /PRNewswire/ - Continuing with the 126-bed not-for-profit community hospital's commitment to providing the best care across the continuum, Duncan Regional Hospital (DRH)(Duncan, Okla.) announced they will be upgrading to MEDITECH's Web Electronic Health Record (EHR) in 2017. A MEDITECH customer since 1989, DRH has made a long-standing commitment to leverage their EHR to improve the quality, safety, and efficiency of patient care.

"Knowledge is power and knowledge is in the EHR data," Roger Neal, CIO and vice president of operations at DRH said. "The Web EHR works the way end-users think—not only the medical staff, but the clinicians and financial staff. It really is an intuitive and integrated system with clinical, financial, ambulatory, ED, and long-term care data."

The advancements in MEDITECH's Web EHR support the hospital's long term goals and provides the end-user with more flexibility and control. For DRH, critical care and improving patient monitoring are at the top of their list. According to Neal, detecting and treating Sepsis and preventing falls are ongoing initiatives as physicians and nurses make their rounds on a daily basis.

"The culture at DRH has always been to help patients and their families first. Everything we do whether it's technical, operational, clinical, financial—we always have our patients in mind," Neal said. "It's important to have the right information for the safety of our patients and the way to have that is an integrated EHR."

In addition, moving to MEDITECH's Web EHR allows DRH to remain financially strong and independent in an ever changing industry riddled with government regulation.

"In today's healthcare climate, it's important to have supportive relationships to help comply with regulations because the industry isn't getting easier, it's getting harder everyday," Neal said. "We know in the long run that MEDITECH will be there to help us with regulatory changes, ambulatory changes, and clinical change. We truly appreciate our partnership with MEDITECH as we don't get that with every vendor."

"Our customers are excited about what MEDITECH has done to build a truly integrated, modernized ambulatory and acute care system designed by physicians and delivered by MEDITECH," Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing at MEDITECH, Helen Waters said. "We're pleased to have DRH join the growing list of progressive healthcare organizations that are transforming care across North America in the ambulatory and acute environment with MEDITECH's modern web solution."
