The Needlyzer is an FDA-approved mobile sharps needle destruction device that is intended to oxidize non-coated stainless steel needles (16–30 gauge) immediately after use. The needle disposal system is designed to create a safer environment for healthcare professionals. The by-product of the process is a granular powder, oxidized ferrous, nickel and schromium (swarf).

During operation, the system generates a temperature of 1,500°C, completely oxidizing the needle, reducing it to swarf. A 20-gauge, 1 ½-in. needle will be completely oxidized in less than one second; larger gauge or longer needles may take slightly longer. The swarf is collected in a replaceable cartridge that can hold approximately 3,000–5,000 oxidized needles.
