Health Management Associates (HMA) To Deploy NextGen Solutions Nationwide

Horsham, PA - NextGen Healthcare, a wholly owned subsidiary of Quality Systems, Inc. and a leading provider of ambulatory healthcare and connectivity solutions announced recently that Health Management Associates purchased software licenses for the unified NextGen electronic medical records (EMR) and enterprise practice management (EPM) system. This purchase, the second made by HMA, represents the second phase of HMA's long-term plan to implement the integrated NextGen clinical and financial platform to all physician practices under its ownership.

"We originally selected NextGen based on product features, its track record with large enterprises, and its integrated database. After working with the product and the company on our initial deployments, we have become even more confident in the outcome of the rollout. NextGen will also allow our providers to more easily participate in various pay for performance and quality improvement initiatives," said Craig Dunker, Director - Physician Practice Management for HMA.

Florida-based HMA owns and operates 59 hospitals and medical centers throughout the United States. HMA has committed to NextGen solutions in an ongoing effort to improve the quality of patient care while also improving their bottom line. NextGen EPM is designed to increase collections, reduce A/R days, and improve efficiency in billing, scheduling, reporting and other critical practice functions. NextGen EMR enables caregivers to quickly document patient encounters at the point of care, reducing the need for transcription services and providing a secure, longitudinal record of a patient's health. Providers will also be able to electronically order prescriptions from the exam room, coordinate office staff, and perform a number of other functions without using paper charts.
