Aegis Selected To Assist Greenville Hospital System In South Carolina In Launching New Employer-Directed Healthcare Initiative

Nashville, TN - Nashville-based Aegis has been selected by Greenville Hospital System to provide tools that effectively link the system's services and programs with the specific health-related needs of employers and their workforce in and around Greenville County, South Carolina. The initiative will encompass all five campuses of the Greenville Hospital System, including the 710-bed Greenville Memorial Hospital, 58-bed Allen Bennett Memorial Hospital, 45-bed Hillcrest Memorial Hospital and the Patewood Medical Campus.

Aegis is the nation's leading healthcare business development company whose programs can currently be found in more than 4,000 employer sites across the country. Employers participating in these programs repeatedly recognize significant dollar savings in employee health costs, absenteeism, healthcare premiums, workers' compensation and other healthcare-related expenditures.

By matching at-risk employees with appropriate early detection, prevention and education initiatives offered by the hospital system and its collective 1,000-member medical staff, the program is designed to help improve employee health while reducing employer healthcare costs.

"This initiative provides us one more way that our hospitals can make a positive and important impact on the local communities," said Howell Clyborne, vice president, community and governmental affairs. "By working with local employers in this manner, we can make a positive difference in the health of local residents, dramatically lessen employee health costs, and better match the services we are providing with the most important needs of our constituencies."

As part of their two-year agreement, Aegis will provide the hospital with its proprietary software and Internet applications as well as a full-time "employer relations specialist" who will be stationed at the hospital to oversee this program on a day-to-day basis. Other tools Aegis will provide the hospital include employer-based Health Information Centers, Personal Health Profiles, Personal Health Reports and other features designed to address a business owner's individual workplace needs.
