The Poste Italiane has undertaken a complex process of redevelopment aimed at improving the quality of its services and expanding its product offerings. This strategic vision, along with a program for substantial investment in infrastructure and training, has allowed the company to raise efficiency standards significantly and very quickly increase employees' professional qualifications; upgrade post office facilities; maintain customers' growing satisfaction; and close financial statements with a profit.
Poste Italiane had several requirements for the new solution they planned to install. the new mobile telephone card were printed with one type of 1D bar code symbology, retail items such as books and stationery had another type of 1D bar code. And certified mail had a 2D Data Matrix code that could not be read with the previous technology.
To increase customer service, a handsfree scanning solution was required to decrease the time that customers had to queue in line.
