Source: B. Braun Medical Inc.
BETHLEHEM, Pa – B. Braun OEM/Industrial – an FDA registered, ISO 9001 manufacturer of class II and III disposable medical devices – introduces a new safety IV catheter.

The Introcan Safety IV Catheter incorporates a passive design to minimize needlestick injuries without requiring user activation. The safety clip is pre-assembled in the catheter hub, and is automatically engaged when the needle bevel exits the catheter hub. The safety clip attaches to the needle bevel to minimize inadvertent needlestick injuries.

The unique design of the Introcan Safety IV catheter allows pre-attachment of a syringe to facilitate aspiration and injection during insertion. The catheter also provides the following features and benefits:
• Ergonomically designed to minimize accidental needlestick injuries without changing technique.
• Requires minimal in-servicing and a short learning curve
• Eliminates risk of inadvertent activation
• Compliance is virtually assured because the safety mechanism cannot be bypassed
• Transparent, ISO Standard color-coded hubs are clearly embossed with the catheter size
• Locking bevel indicator eliminates catheter rotation prior to insertion
• Latex and DEHP-free
• Available with or without wings to facilitate catheter securement
• Available in FEP, 14 - 24 gauge sizes. Available in polyurethane, 16 - 24 gauge sizes
