Emergency department patient tracking systems are designed to improve departmental communication and patient flow while allowing the users to analyze intra-visit events and other information. The systems help reduce and avoid costs, improve patient satisfaction, improve staff satisfaction, reduce risk, and comply with regulations.

The Essential Patient Tracking system features a communication board that allows the user to view what is next for individual patients. The system will also time-stamp registration via an interface to the hospital's ADT system, as well as other important events such as triage and disposition. Additionally, the system will allow the user to record and display lab and EKG orders; draw and done times; and when the patients are in X-ray, done, and the results.

The Full Patient Tracking and OnTrack systems allow caregivers to know when a patient arrived, and whether the patient has had recent visits. It also offers information about which patients have been triaged and when; where patients are located; who the most acute patient is, or which patient needs to be seen next; and status tests and results for lab, X-ray, EKG, and respiratory tests, and when labs have been drawn.
