Genoa Healthcare Selects Medication Management Systems To Support Quality MTM Services In Nationwide Mental Health Clinics
Minneapolis, MN - Medication Management Systems (MMS) recently announced an agreement with Genoa Healthcare that brings together robust pharmaceutical care technology and the innovative delivery of pharmacy services in community mental health clinics to improve the health of a patient population greatly in need of high quality service.
The MMS Assurance Pharmaceutical Care System will become a vital component of Genoa Healthcare's medication therapy management program, integrating various mental health services and improving the coordination of care between providers.
"Given the critical role that medications play in effectively treating patients with mental illness, MMS is pleased that our Assurance System will contribute to helping patients realize the maximum benefit from their medicines," commented Nathan Schultz, Pharm.D., MMS President and COO. "A pharmacist working directly with patients, their physicians, and other care providers -- using the patient-centered pharmaceutical care tools MMS provides -- will deliver immediate value to improve medication efficacy, safety, and adherence for patients with mental illness."
On-site, in affiliated community mental health centers, Genoa Healthcare's pharmacists will utilize the MMS Assurance System to associate all drug therapies with a patient's medical conditions; identify, prevent, and resolve drug therapy problems; create custom patient care plans; and document and report progress toward achieving therapeutic goals over time in a state-of-the art Electronic Therapeutic Record.
"The Assurance System is an important tool I need to take care of my patients," said Julie Fike, Genoa's MTM pharmacist. "I am able to focus on helping my patients understand their medications, coordinate care with their health care providers, and optimize my patients' medication therapy. Having a pharmacist as part of the care team supports Genoa's commitment to deliver value to its community mental health center partners."
