Healthcare Providers Turn To Soarian To Achieve Long-Term Goals And Meaningful Use
Siemens Healthcare announced that five more U.S.-based healthcare institutions have contracted to implement Soarian Web-based health information systems (HIS) to help drive clinical and financial excellence through increased health IT adoption. These moves are based, in part, on the providers' goals to achieve Meaningful Use of an electronic health record (EHR) as outlined in the HITECH provision of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).
Baptist St. Anthony's Health System (BSA), Amarillo, Texas, is an extensive hospital system in the Texas panhandle. Additionally, BSA is the fourth largest employer in Amarillo, with a medical staff of more than 450 physicians and 2,700 employees. Recently, BSA extended its agreement with Siemens until 2020 to include the implementation of Soarian Clinicals and Soarian Financials, both of which will be remotely hosted at Siemens' world-renowned Information Systems Center. Terms also include implementing Decision Support Solutions and NextGen EHR and EPM. The move is part of Baptist's overall strategy to address ARRA initiatives with a specific emphasis on computerized physician order entry (CPOE).
The 165-bed Peconic Bay Medical Center, Riverhead, New York, has also extended its agreement with Siemens until 2020 to include the implementation of Soarian Clinicals and the migration of its Siemens Pharmacy and Med Administration Check systems to be remotely hosted by Siemens.
"Our decision to extend our partnership with Siemens by implementing Soarian Clinicals was fueled by our commitment to clinical advancement, our desire to remain competitive, our drive to get to Meaningful Use with a proven system, and our requirement for a secure investment that will take us well into the future," said Andrew Mitchell, CEO of Peconic Bay Medical Center. "Siemens has been our partner for many years, and we are confident that by moving to Siemens next-generation, workflow-driven, feature-rich clinical information system, we are much better positioned to meet our objectives."
The 218-bed Children's Hospital, New Orleans, Louisiana, has agreed to replace its paper-based system with Soarian Clinicals to help achieve Meaningful Use. Terms also include the implementation of Soarian Emergency Department (ED), Soarian EDM-HIM (Enterprise Document Management-Health Information Management), Siemens Pharmacy, and Med Administration Check. All but Soarian EDM-HIM will be remotely hosted by Siemens. This agreement will help Children's stay competitive in the marketplace and drive efficiency of patient care. Children's is part of a two-hospital system called the Louisiana Children's Medical Center, which includes Touro Infirmary, New Orleans. Touro has also signed a 10-year extension with Siemens and plans to reach Meaningful Use with its INVISION system. Terms also include implementing Med Administration Check and completion management, and extending its Managed Services agreement with Siemens until 2020.
MaineGeneral Health, Augusta and Waterville, Maine, has signed an agreement to implement the full suite of Soarian revenue cycle products - anchored by Soarian Financials - across MaineGeneral Medical Center and its Physician Offices. Soarian will help MaineGeneral automate and consolidate its Patient Access, Revenue Cycle, and Medical Records departments for both the acute care and physician facilities.
"On a daily basis, our mission is to enhance the health of the people of the greater Kennebec Valley, and we make this possible by maintaining a forward-looking vision that focuses on clinical excellence, customer satisfaction, financial stability and positively impacting the health of our community each day," said Danny Burgess, Vice President and CIO, MaineGeneral Health. "Our extensive vendor selection process made it very clear that Soarian was the only solution on the market that could cross all boundaries with one holistic approach across the inpatient and ambulatory settings."
