VaiDan KM-25 is a Doppler guided hemorrhoid arterial ligation system that permits hemorrhoid treatment on an out-patient basis. Referrals are no longer necessary for the procedure, and hospitalization is not required. The procedure is virtually pain free, compared with a traditional hemorrhoidectomy. Patients are able to return to work almost immediately, and all degrees of hemorrhoids can be treated. However, conservative treatment for patients with acute, thrombosed hemorrhoids is advised.
The procedure is optimized for use in hemorrhoidal artery ligation, and uses ultrasound in modified proctoscope for precise, rapid localization of hemorrorhidal arteries for ligation. The probe is designed for easy insertion and brightly lit for optimum visibility. Additionally, the procedure is acceptable for treating Goligher degree I to IV hemorrhoids, it prevents prolapse by fixating hemorrhoidal tissue to the underlying muscle, and there are no cases of urinary retention.
