The MBA hemostasis valve is attached to the end of a guiding catheter
Merit Medical Systems, Inc.ostasis valve is attached to the end of a guiding catheter and allows insertion and manipulation of other interventional devices such as PTCA balloon catheters and stent catheters. The new device greatly reduces the amount of blood that escapes during these procedures. The valve is designed for use in interventional cardiology and radiology procedures.
The valve also protects the patient from blood loss. The integral introducer allows for the rapid insertion of interventional devices without crimping or damaging them while largely preventing blood loss during their placement. The valve has a larger inner lumen than other hemostasis valves and can accommodate catheters up to 9 French size. Other models of hemostasis valves accommodate devices to only 7 French size.
