Hugs is an infant protection system that combines a tamper-proof tag with receivers that define safe areas. Exit doors from safe areas are equipped with monitors, and a computer console displays a floor plan of the safe area with all exits marked.
Each tag is activated by securing the strap around an infant's ankle or wrist. Staff is immediately alerted at the computer console of the newly activated tag, and can enter pertinent information. If a tag is brought near an open door, an alarm is generated. The display console shows the identification of the infant and the exit door on the facility map.
