The company has introduced a new Internet-based implementation of its Caremaster Data Repository (CDR). Utilizing an Application Service Provider (ASP) model, this implementation allows clients to license the CDR based on monthly usage.

The CDR receives, standardizes and stores patient data from a hospital's individual clinical information systems and creates an integrated patient record of orders, lab results, transcriptions, appointments, vital signs, EKGs and more. The information is immediately available to authorized healthcare providers anywhere from a variety of devices including personal computers, laptop computers, Windows CE-based and Palm devices, and Web phones.

In the ASP solution, the data is collected from hospital clinical feeder systems and made available to users over the Internet. To ensure the security of patient data, the ASP solution uses Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Virtual Private Network (VPN) technologies to encrypt and protect the data.
