LipoPrint LDL System

Source: Quantimetrix
This high resolution, non-gradient polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis system separates lipoprotein particles on the basis of size and charge.
This high resolution, non-gradient polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis system separates lipoprotein particles on the basis of size and charge. Up to seven low density lipoprotein (LDL) subfractions, varying in particle size, can be resolved in human serum. The smaller, faster moving LDL particles have been associated with increased risk of coronary artery disease (CAD), even when the level of LDL cholesterol is Ònormal.Ó Three intermediate density lipoprotein (IDL) subfractions can be clearly separated from VLDL. Increased IDL has also been implicated in CAD. Analysis of LDL and IDL subfractions can provide a more definitive assessment of CAD risk than total or LDL cholesterol measurements alone. This test kit contains precast gels and all the reagents necessary to perform the test. The test procedure is simple and can be done in about 90 minutes.
