AcuScan-Rx is a handheld, wireless medication scanner that care team members can use at the point of care to verify and chart medication administration, and provide a legible, real-time medication administration record. With the product, the user can pPlan medication administrations, review patient orders online, review a patient's history of administered meds, receive discrepancy warnings prior to administration, capture and record information into patient MARs, send critical med administration data to other point of care systems, receive immediate alerts of new, changed, and canceled orders, and eliminate document omission.

The scanner alerts nurses of discrepancies before they happen, eliminating possible medication misadventures and associated patient harm, costs, and liability. It also provides data for patient monitoring activities by capturing actual med administration transactions and times in a legible, automated MAR. Because all information is transferred to the scanners in real-time mode, care givers are immediately notified of any changes in the order's status.
