BariKare is an advanced patient care system designed to provide a therapeutic, flexible environment for the care and management of large patients weighing up to 850 lbs. It provides:

• Flexible Patient Positioning
  • The chair position, when used with the reverse Trendelenburg setting, facilitates patient ambulation and egress by tilting forward.
  • The bed converts to a comfortable recliner, which helps keep the patient's weight back in the bed.
  • The padded footboard releases to accommodate taller patients.
• Therapeutic Patient Surface
  • Pressure reducing mattress is covered in Cromarty, a soft, yet durable and resilient fabric that stretches to conform to the shape of the patient.
  • Pressure relief therapy can be obtained by using the First Step Select Heavy Duty Mattress Overlay on top of the patient surface, for patients up to 650 lbs.
  • EPA approved Vinyzene, is added to the foam core of the mattress to help prevent bacterial growth.
  • Durable, one-piece mattress stays in place with secure straps.
  • Support packs create a wider seat section when used with side rails in the extended position.
• Accurate Patient Weight Readings
  • Built-in scale display, located on each side rail, provides instant, accurate readings.
  • Helps maintain patient dignity by displaying patient weight for 2 minutes, then hiding it from casual observers.
  • The Weight Hold function lets caregiver add or remove bed linens or accessories without affecting the weight reading.
  • The Weight Delay function makes it easier for one person to take a weight reading, by allowing time to lift tubes and lines before the weight reading is automatically registered.
• Helps Facilitate Easier Patient Care
  • Side rails extend straight out 5 ¾" on each side, for a total added width of 11 ½".
  • Removable side cushions provide comfortable arm support.
  • Side rails rotate down and tuck against frame to accommodate patient transfers and transport, nursing care, and convenient patient access during procedures.
  • Bed controls facilitate patient positioning, and are tilted outward from both side rails for easy caregiver use.
  • Bed raises and lowers for nursing care and easy patient transfers.
  • Sturdy frame accommodates standard traction and IV poles.
  • X-ray cassette holder is easily adjustable.
  • Footboard lays flat on the floor for patient egress - no stool required.
• Risk Management
  • U.L. Listed design accommodates patient weight up to 850 lbs.
  • Padded footboard helps prevent an accidental fall by lowering at an even pace if patient tries to leave the bed before the footboard is completely lowered.
  • Footboard is padded on top for patient comfort and on bottom for caregiver safety.
  • Easy transport is facilitated by heavy duty twin-wheel casters.
  • Safety brakes are located on each wheel.
  • Bed exit alarm signals if the patient leaves the bed.
