The HoverMatt is a patient transfer pad that features air transfer technology, which allows patients to rest while being moved. The system allows hospital staff members to move patients laterally without lifting. The patient is typically placed onto the mattress using the log roll technique and the air supply hose is then attached. The air supply inflates the mattress and supports the patient. The air escapes from small perforations beneath the flexible mattress-like structure. This combination of the patient's body being suspended by air and the frictionless film of air underneath results in a very smooth and comfortable transfer. The transfer mattress can be easily cleaned between each patient's use, and because the material used is the same as a low air loss bed, it will not affect skin care.
