MPT-IV is a wireless, pole mounted, three-parameter vital signs monitor, which attaches to a communications-ready IV pump. This system permits mobile communication of a patient's vital signs as well as all critical fluid infusion parameters, including alarm thresholds. The portable monitor is approximately half the size of the average IV pump and is mounted above the pump on the same IV pole. As the patient moves about taking the rollstand and pump, the monitor goes along and wirelessly transmits real time patient data and IV pump information to the central station. This keeps the patient in constant communication, stationary or mobile.

The system requires no interaction by the clinician – it automatically recognizes the make and model pump it is attached to. The library of software currently embedded in the monitor addresses communication-ready IV pumps from major manufacturers. It can also be used as a stand alone wireless portable monitor without the IV connection for maximum flexibility.
