TurtleSkin puncture-resistant gloves are created using a patented technology for weaving together kevlar fibers. The base fabric features an interlocking weave, which prevents the fibers from shifting out of place when they come into contact with fine pointed objects. This base fabric is then covered by proprietary coatings, which enhance the fabric's protective properties. This process makes the gloves eleven times more abrasion resistant and 25 times more cut resistant than cowhide gloves of the same thickness. Heat and moisture pass through the backside of the gloves.

With a thickness roughly equivalent to three or four sheets of paper, the gloves provide the dexterity and tactile sensitivity needed to handle small objects. They can be machine washed and dried or steam autoclaved for sterilization. They are available in four styles in medium and large; the heaviest pair weighs less than four ounces.
