QuadraMed Transparent Classification Goes Live At The Medical Center Of Central Georgia
Improves Nurse Utilization, Reduces Classification Costs
Reston, VA - QuadraMed Corporation announced that The Medical Center of Central Georgia, Macon, Georgia, has completed an installation and "go live" of the QuadraMed Transparent Classification product.
QuadraMed Transparent Classification enables MCCG to classify patients as a byproduct of charting within its clinical documentation system, thereby eliminating what was previously a manual process. This results in streamlined workflow and more efficient use of nursing resources. Hospitals utilizing QuadraMed Transparent Classification can relieve nurses of a tedious administrative task, gain more reliable patient classification data, and reduce costs associated with a manual classification process and related nursing education programs.
Transparent Classification, released in 2005, is part of the top-rated QuadraMed Acuity, Productivity, and Benchmarking System. Nursing documentation and physician order data from electronic documentation systems are mapped to patient classification indicators from which patient acuity, workload, and staffing recommendations are generated automatically. In response to the broad base of potential users nationwide, QuadraMed has also developed an interface that enables Transparent Classification to work seamlessly with many third part documentation systems.
According to Nancy Barton, MSN, RN, and director, PCS ADM Services at MCCG, "Acuity data is critical to effective staffing management and is used at every level of our organization. When fully implemented, QuadraMed Transparent Classification will improve the accuracy of our classification data and as a byproduct, patient documentation through a seamless interface with our clinical documentation system.
"In an era of severe nursing shortages, automating classification delivers immediate benefits by enabling better nursing staff utilization and removing the ongoing need for a classification education program. We estimate these savings will amount to $250,000 per year at full implementation. And more importantly, the time saved will be used by our nursing staff to do what they do best, provide the best care available for our patients."
The Medical Center of Central Georgia is a long-term QuadraMed Acuity, Productivity and Benchmarking System client that has used the system for more than 25 years. MCCG is a 603-bed tertiary care facility with a Level I trauma center and has the state's largest heart program outside of Atlanta.
QuadraMed advances the success of healthcare organizations through IT solutions that leverage quality care into positive financial outcomes. The QuadraMed Acuity, Productivity and Benchmarking System plays an important role to promote the company's strategic initiatives focused on reimbursement solutions, interoperability for the connected healthcare community, and quality measurement.
