Respironics Releases New Electronic Pulse Oxygen Device (ePOD)

ePOD

Murrysville, PA – Respironics, Inc. announces the release of ePOD, a new Electronic Pulse Oxygen Device, which combines the durability and simplicity of pneumatic conservers with the pulse dose capability of electronic conservers. Respironics offers ePOD with a two-year guaranteed battery life (estimated to be 3 ½ million breaths based on 20 breaths-per-minute for four hours a day over two years).

"ePOD is a new approach to oxygen management," says Jon McLellan, Director of Marketing , Home Respiratory Care. "With a 4.25:1 conservation ratio in the pulse dose mode, our product gives providers and patients a longer battery life and longer tank life. This helps to bring greater predictability to the increasingly unpredictable world of oxygen supply."

ePOD features easy to understand functions. There are no audible alarms; rather, three indicator lights monitor all operations. Even if the battery needs to be replaced, the device can operate in the continuous flow mode without any power at all. This helps to reinforce a patient's safety and comfort.

Mr. McLellan adds, "ePOD offers providers greater reliability, durability and relief from the unexpected time and labor crunches that arise from unscheduled oxygen deliveries. It is one more example of how Respironics is developing solutions for healthcare providers and their patients."
