Steris Acquires Minneapolis Sterilization Business

Steris Corp. (Mentor,OH) announced the acquisition of the assets of Quality Sterilization Services (QSS), a contract sterilization business located near Minneapolis, MN. QSS primarily provides contract sterilization services for medical device manufacturers in the upper Midwest. Specific terms of the cash transaction weren't disclosed.

Commenting on today's announcement, Thomas J. Magulski, Steris' senior vice president and Scientific & Industrial Group president, stated, "QSS has established a leadership position within the Minnesota and upper Midwest sterilization market through a commitment to the highest standard of customer support and quality service. The Twins Cities area, also known as Medical Alley, is a booming market for high technology medical device manufacturing, which provides STERIS an excellent opportunity for continued growth and expansion of our Isomedix Services network."

Steris Corp., through its Isomedix Services business, provides sterilization, microbial reduction, and materials modification services through a network of 15 facilities in North America, according to the company.
