Summit Healthcare Raises The Bar With The Summit Care Exchange Technology

Summit Healthcare Supports 26 Hospitals as They Strive to Meet Meaningful Use Deadlines

Braintree, MA (PRWEB) - Summit Care Exchange is the newest product offering in the Summit Healthcare Interoperability product suite with 26 facilities now live with the new technology. Summit Healthcare developed Summit Care Exchange, a robust tool to streamline continuity of care document (CCD) integration, while providing an integrated HISP offering to simplify Direct Messaging requirements. The Summit Care Exchange technology with integrated HISP will help support hospital organizations to meet their Stage 1 and Stage 2 2014 Meaningful Use (MU) requirements and attestation goals.

Every organization's attestation goals and timelines are slightly different, with some sites on the path for Stage 1 versus Stage 2. For those sites attesting for MU Stage 1, Year 2; Hospitals are tasked with providing patients the ability to view online, download, and transmit information about a hospital admission known as the Patient Access requirement. The Care Exchange interoperability platform helps sites integrate CCDs with Other Vendor Patient Portals.

Additionally, in order to securely transmit a CCD from a Patient Portal, an organizational HISP needs to be in place. The Summit Care Exchange technology is a secure and seamless platform to provide the organizational HISP with the secure Direct Address from which a patient can send their CCD or Summary of Care Record.

Congratulations to the following organizations that are attesting for Stage 1 Meaningful Use:

  • Kootenai Medical Center, ID
  • Laurens County Health Care System, SC
  • Lima Memorial Health System, OH
  • Maine Coast Memorial Hospital, ME
  • Palos Community Hospital, IL
  • Phoebe Putney, GA
  • Porter Hospital, VT

For our clients attesting for MU Stage 2, Year 1 Summit Care Exchange is supporting two main requirements, Patient Access as well as Transition of Care (TOC) which requires the provision of a summary of care record using electronic transmission through CEHRT for more than 10% of TOCs and referrals. Additionally, it requires at least one summary of care record electronically transmitted with a different EHR vendor or to a CMS test EHR. Following the same guidelines as above, Summit Care Exchange provisions the organizational HISP with Direct Address(es) to support patient CCD integration and data exchange, while adhering to Direct Messaging guidelines and protocols.

Congratulations to the following organizations that are attesting for Stage 2 Meaningful Use:

  • Albemarle Hospital, NC
  • Beaufort Memorial Hospital, SC
