Tissue Stabilization System

The Medtronic Octopus2+ tissue stabilization system employs suction to gently lift and hold the surface of a beating heart almost motionless while grafted vessels are carefully sutured in place. The system allows a more controlled spread of stabilizer pods to optimize exposure of the grafting site and provide surgeons with a stable field for easier suturing. A new four-cup pod stabilizer design provides for good tissue capture, and the system features a stronger, yet still flexible, articulating arm permitting the stabilizer pods to be positioned along various cardiac arteries.
